The history of the T-shirt, relatively speaking, is not that ancient. Its origins can be traced back to the late 19th century when laborers would cut their jumpsuits in half to stay cool during warmer months. The first mass-produced T-shirt appeared around 1913 when the U.S. Navy adopted them as standard undershirts. Although the T-shirt was introduced in the early 20th century, it was primarily worn as an undergarment. It was rare to see T-shirts worn independently, except by veterans who tucked them into their trousers post-World War II. However, in the 1960s and 70s, T-shirts, particularly those with prints, gained popularity for self-expression and fashion. Today, T-shirts have become a global wardrobe staple."
